Participants came from eleven states, but with one heart. They came from throughout West Virginia as well as nearby states like Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. Some even traveled from as far away as Oregon. The conference was the birthed in the heart of West Virginia pastor, Dan Biser in 2006. He traveled to the Heart Cry for Revival conference at The Cove (Billy Graham's training center) in Ashville, North Carolina. He heard speakers such as Henry Blackaby, Jim Cymbala, Dennis Kinlaw, and Sammy Tippit. He felt impressed of God that a prayer conference needed to be launched in West Virginia.
Tears could be seen and sobs heard as intercessors and church leaders gathered at the Broken before the throne conference in Martinsville, West Virginia. Pastors, Christian leaders, and intercessors took nine days away from their busy schedule to listen, learn and apply principles of prayer. One family from Georgia read about the conference and the teen age daugters told their parents, "We want to be that confernece." The entire family came. Another family traveled all the way from Missouri. They planned to return home on Tuesday, but stayed "one more day." However, at the conclusion of that day, they had to stay another "one more day." They finally left on Friday. Hearts were hungry to see God send a mighty sweeping revival.
With a vision tucked deep in his heart, Biser began contacting speakers. It wasn't long before he had an array of nationally known speakers: Henry and Richard Blackaby, T. W. Hunt, Al Whittinghill, and Sammy Tippit were among those who accepted his invitation. The West Virginia Baptist Convention caught Biser's vision and became an official sponsor of the meeting. It wasn't long before pastors, church leaders, and intercessors from throughout the United States decided they needed to be a part of the meetings.
The conference was unique in that each day was broken into 3 three hour sessions. At least half of each session was spent seeking God for revival in America. A women's conference coincided with the main conference on Friday and Saturday. Tex Tippit, Bobbye Rankin of the International Mission Board, and Elaine Helms of the North American Mission Board spoke at the women's conference.
