Sammy Tippit spoke at the Ironbridge Baptist Church on the outskirts of Richmond, Virginia this past weekend. He presented the initiative, Praying for Your Family to those in attendance at the meetings. The conference is the first that Tippit plans for the United States during 2007. The San Antonio, Texas evangelist said, “God has burdened my heart to challenge the church in America to pray for a mighty revival in families in our land. We desperately need a move of God in Christian homes.”
Pastor Mark Jordan said that the conference came at a strategic time for the church. It is hoping to start a number of small group studies after Easter. He stated that the Praying for Your Family materials will enable many of those groups as well as benefit the prayer lives of many of the families in the congregation.Sammy Tippit Ministries (STM) has plans to present the initiative in a number of churches across America during the next few months. Sammy and Tex Tippit will be in Louisiana for a state wide conference on spiritual awakening this week.
They will be joining Dr. Roy Fish, Professor of Evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as John Avant from the Southern Baptist North American Baptist Mission Board. Tippit will speak on Prayer for Spiritual Awakening around the world. He will also present the Praying for Your Family initiative.Several churches around the country have begun using the materials.
A participant in the study at Alamo City Christian Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas said that she had gained an entirely new perspective on persisting in prayer. “I used to think that I was bothering God when I kept going to Him in prayer. Now, I realize that He longs for me to come into His presence with my needs. He wants to have fellowship with me. This has given me strength to persevere in my prayers.
The series is not only helping believers in the United States but also around the world. One Christian colleague in India wrote, “Oh! What an awesome and useful book! It helped me to think of my family relationship and the need of our praying for our families. I am sure this book will be of good use to many people when it is made available in English as well as in many other regional languages in India. I am sure that people will love this book, and it will be a treasure in every Christian home.” STM hopes to have the materials translated into several Indian languages as well as Chinese, Russian, and Urdu this year. The materials are scheduled to be released within the next few weeks in Armenia and Iran. They have already been released in Brazil.
STM asks our friends to pray for the initiative.
