Sammy Tippit’s newest book, Praying For Your Family has already touched numerous lives since its debut in November, 2006.  Many people’s lives have been changed and hearts challenged as they embark on this journey in how to pray for their own families.  Below is a recent interview with Tippit on his new book with testimonials following from various people about how this book has already drastically altered their prayer life.

Tell us a little bit about your new book, Praying For Your Family.  What is its premise?

My goal is to try to help people learn how to pray effectively and Biblically for their families.  I believe that this will result in many family members coming to Christ and many families growing closer to one another.

The first and central part is the book itself.  In the book, I share the principles and life stories that will give hope to families.  In the workbook, a person studies the Scriptures for themselves, but the workbook runs parallel to the book and is talking about the same principles.  The difference is that in the book I am sharing the principles, but in the workbook a person is learning the same principles through their own private study.  With the DVD, we incorporate other people besides myself sharing those principles.  We have some of America’s great Christian leaders who make presentations-Pastor Jim Cymbala, Dr. Crawford Loritts, and Dr. Dennis Kinlaw.

We have seen several things happen.  First, we have seen God touch individual lives.  There are testimonies of people who are seeing God use the book in their own personal prayer lives and encouraging them.  Secondly, we are seeing entire groups of people that are being blessed by both the book and the study.  There is one women’s Bible study in San Antonio, Texas, that has grown because of this study.  A number of new women have come into the study group because of its material.  The third exciting thing that we are seeing is that entire churches are going through the study.  Last week, a pastor called me and told me that their whole church has been going through the study on Sunday evenings.   After watching the DVD, they break into small groups.  One lady in his own small group began to weep.  She told how she had harbored bitterness because she had been sexually molested as a child by one of her parents.  God released her from that bitterness.  The study that week was praying with a forgiven heart and God did a great work in this woman’s life.  The pastor said that every week you can look around the church and see people in small groups praying.  In every group, there are people weeping as God works in their lives.

Praying For Your Family is being translated and published in several countries.  Tell us a little bit about that.

First of all, it has been released already in Brazil and translated into Portuguese.  It is in the process of being released in Armenia and Iran.  We hope to have it very soon into Angola, Africa.  The book is also being translated into Urdu (India), Russian, and Spanish.  Another language we are having it translated into is Chinese.  We hope within the next year to have it officially published in China.

I am praying that people’s lives will be enriched, their prayer lives will be strengthened and their families will be touched by God.
