Dave Tippit Returns from Philippines Print E-mail

Dave Tippit returned recently from the final 2007 Eternal Concepts discipleship training school.  The third school of the year was held at Central Philippines University, which has over 11,000 students and is located on the island of Iloilo.

During the first few days of the school, Tippit held a mini-discipleship seminar with various students leaders from the university.  These students leaders included presidents from numerous Christian organizations such as Navigators and several fraternities and sororities.  The Eternal Concepts curriculum was implemented as it had been at previous schools.  Lessons were taught on humility, faith, prayer, evangelism, and an in-depth study of the Bible, as well as many other topics.

Tippit said of the experience, “In the student discipleship program, we covered topics at a more basic level than previous training schools, yet there was an authenticity to this particular school that was unprecedented. Many of the students were just at beginning levels in their pursuit of God. Many had authentic questions and hurts, but in the midst of those questions and hurts, God's presence worked mightily.”

He adds, “We got into some of the most authentic, raw and meaningful conversations that I have ever delved into with students at this level. God really worked in many lives as they personally relayed their stories to me. For example, some of them had been molested or tried to commit suicide within the last few months.  God really brought a lot of tears and at least some healing.”

During the last several days of the school, Tippit held a seminar with over 40 of the Christian professors at the university.  These professors were excited about the program and teachings that Tippit taught and facilitated, and there have been numerous reports since then of exciting things that God has done in the lives of the professors through these few days of spiritual training.

Tippit asks for prayer for the students.  First, pray that they would be confident in what God has called each and every one of them to do and be.  Secondly, he asks for prayer about the promiscuity of several of the students and for healing of the emotional scars that some have carried throughout the years.  And last, he asks for prayer that the students would continue to strive to have a true and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.

Tippit will head to Angola, Africa at the beginning of 2008 to hold another discipleship training school similar to the ones held in 2007.  There are several other trips in the works for 2008.  The Eternal Concepts team would be grateful for your prayers as they seek God at home in San Antonio, as well as their many trips and projects for 2008.
