Several hundred Liberians marched through New Krew Town, a suburb of Monrovia, Liberia
on Thursday, February 22. They were not marching in protest, but rather in
proclamation of Jesus as Savior and Lord. A band led the march and was followed
by Liberians carrying the Liberian and the American flags. Sammy and Tex Tippit
walked with Liberian Christian leaders behind the flags. Hundreds of people
came out of their homes to greet the marchers. People waved. They danced. They
sang. Many people then followed the marchers to the D-Tweh Football Field,
where Sammy Tippit preached the opening night of an evangelistic meeting. Such
was the opening of the evangelistic crusade with Sammy Tippit.
Several thousand people gathered at the football field to
listen to Tippit. The San Antonio,
Texas evangelist preached on the
“Purpose of Life” and several hundred people responded to give their hearts to
Christ. The evening was filled with musicians singing and worshipping and a
spirit of joy flooded the services.
Sammy Tippit then conducted a pastors and leaders conference
in one of the local churches in New
Krew Town.
The church was packed with leaders and another 100 people sat outside to hear
Tippit’s message. He spoke to the leaders on Praying for Your Family. The message was well received and scores
of leaders came to the altar to ask God to work in their families. Tippit told
the crowd, “Often we want God to work in mighty ways in a nation. But He works
in the small things. The family is a foundational unit in any society. We must
pray for our families. We need to see God send a mighty revival to our homes.”
People responded. Many came to the altar and knelt before the Lord. Revival
flooded their souls.
Pastor Emmanuel Gyamfi, chairman of the crusade, accompanied
Sammy and Tex Tippit to meet the Vice President of Liberia on Friday afternoon.
They shared their burden with the Vice President and prayed for continued peace
in the nation. When Sammy Tippit traveled to Liberia three years ago, it was at
the conclusion of the war. He told the people, “I believe this marks a new day
for Liberia
and that the nation will experience new life.” His words have come to pass as Liberia
has been set on a path of peace.
Sammy Tippit Ministries asks all of our friends to pray for Liberia. The
evangelistic meetings will continue through Saturday evening. Tippit will
preach on Sunday morning and then travel to Europe.
A full story will be published on this website on Monday, February 26.
