A team of evangelists sponsored by Sammy Tippit Ministries scattered throughout five Provinces in Angola, Africa to proclaim the gospel of Jesus last week. Hundreds of people in each Province responded to the message of Christ and prayed with the evangelists.
This
week’s article will feature Sammy Tippit’s ministry in Luanda. Next
week, the other evangelists and Provinces will be featured.
Tippit preached in the capital city, Luanda, an evangelistic event as well as a pastors and leaders conference. The meetings were organized by the Angolan Baptist Convention in cooperation with the Evangelical Alliance of Angola. The Texas based evangelist began his outreach into Luanda with the launching of his book, Orando Para Su Familia (Praying for Your Family). The book was published last year in Brazil and more than 1,000 copies were sent to Angola to launch a movement to encourage a prayer movement for families.
Tex Tippit spoke the second day at a women’s conference. She challenged the women to allow God to mold them into the women that He desired. She said, “It doesn’t matter what you have gone through, but God can use you. When you go through the fire, He is molding you into a woman who will be a vessel of honor in His kingdom. You can trust God as you go through different seasons of your life.” The women of Angola responded with great enthusiasm to her message.
Sammy led the pastors and leaders of the churches in Luanda through a series of messages on revival. He preached to the leaders about personal revival, revival in the family, revival in the church, and revival in the nation. Many leaders found themselves crying out to God to work deeply in their lives.
Tippit then preached an evangelistic meeting at the national Torrado (the national Bull Ring) in Luanda. Approximately 9,000 people gathered for the evangelistic event, and 563 people made first time commitments to Christ. Another 175 Christians recommitted their lives to Christ. There was a sense of God’s presence throughout the meeting.Someone asked Tippit about the follow up of the new believers. However, he pointed to counselors who had come to Christ through his previous meetings in the country and a leading pastor who came to Christ during his first evangelistic endeavor in Angola. They were the fruit that remained after such evangelistic events held in previous years by STM.
Next week, we will feature what transpired in other Provinces with Gary and Darlene Maroney, Marshall Wolcott, Wayne and Martha Jenkins, Dave Tippit and Billy and Darleen Honc. God moved mightily in each Province where the team ministered.
