STM to launch outreach in Angola and South Africa Print E-mail

Sammy and Tex Tippit leave Tuesday, January 22nd for South Africa and Angola.  This will be their first overseas trip for the year of 2008.

They are expecting amazing things to happen this year and the ministry that is to be held in these two countries of Africa will be the first of many exciting journeys that God has in store for them for 2008.

Sammy and Tex will arrive in the city of Welkom, South Africa on Thursday January 24.  Tippit will preach in the gold and silver mines on Friday and Saturday.  This endeavor is something that is new to STM.

“I am really excited about preaching to the miners,” said Tippit.  “People from all over the southern part of Africa will be among these miners and we will be able to share the Gospel with them.”

On Sunday and Monday, Tippit will preach in a church in the city of Randfontein, and then on Monday he will hold training for evangelists throughout that area.

On February 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the rest of the team will begin the five major evangelistic events, as well as the leadership training that will take place throughout Angola.  Dave Tippit will continue his outreach in the city of Benguela, while Wayne Jenkins, director of the Evangelism for the Louisiana Baptist Convention and his wife Martha, will be in the city of Luena.  Gary Maroney, pastor of First Baptist Church of Cameron Texas and his wife Darlene, will minister in Uige and Marshall Wolcott, a lay evangelist in Oregon and Billy and Darleen Honc, staff members at Alamo City Christian Fellowship church in San Antonio, Texas, will speak in the city of Cabinda.

Sammy and Tex Tippit will not only hold the outreach events in the capital city of Luanda, but over the weekend, they will also be training 1000 business men to teach Tippit’s newest book and devotional series, Praying For Your Family.  Praying for Your Family is translated into Portuguese, the official language of Angola and the series will be launched throughout the country during this time.

“This is very exciting because this is the first time we have attempted to do something like this in the country of Angola,” said Tippit. “Angola is a war torn country.  The infrastructure has been destroyed and this is a major undertaking.  We are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for the Angolan people.”

Please keep the team in your prayers as they are traveling over the next few weeks.  They begin their journey home on Monday, February 4th and return Wednesday the 6th.  Pray that God will give them safe travel and that while the team is in Angola, many will come to know, love, and build a relationship with Jesus Christ.
