A Cup of WaterPosted by in Scornicesti, Romania, Jesus, helping people, Grace, God, Dave Tippit |
Yesterday, I spoke with my son, Dave Tippit. What a blessing to hear his voice. He has taken a condensed version of his discipleship school to students in Romania. They are having a daily time of discipleship and then going into the town and sharing God's love with people. They are ministering in a community called Scornicesti.
It's the home town of Nicolae Ceaucescu, Romania's former communist dictator. The town was one of the darkest areas of the country. A year and a half ago, David Funderbirk, the former U.S. Ambassador to Romania, and I led in the dedication of the first Protestant Church in the town. But the town has been so influenced by communism that it has been a dark and difficult place.
There has not only been a spiritual drought in the area, but also a physical one. Water has become a real issue in the community. However, the church has its own well. Dave and the students studying with him went through the community and brought buckets of water to the people. They went to the "least of these" with a bucket of water.
That blesses my heart to see Dave doing what Jesus told all of us to do. As Dave shared with me what he is doing, God touched my heart. Maybe there's someone we all know who needs a "cup of water." That cup of water may take the form of a different kind of service. But where there is darkness, let's reach out with the love of Jesus and touch lives.
Is there someone thirsty that you know? Find a well that will meet their need and give them a bucket of the "living water."
