It
has been a blessing to find through the net that Sammy is still around
and preaching God's word. Sammy led me to the Lord when I was 13 years
old in the Chicago area. Later that year I spent time praying and witnessing with Sammy during his fast after his Chicago arrest.
I remember leading a very drunk street person to Christ one day. It was the first person I ever lead to Christ. I was so excited but many of my well intentioned friends said to not be too excited because he was so drunk he probably didn't realize what he was doing. Sammy had encouraged us that God was able to do anything (even save a very drunk man.)
A few weeks later I went to the hearing with others to pray, witness and support Sammy when the verdict came down. A man came up to me outside the courthouse and identified himself as the man whom I had led to the Lord a few weeks earlier!
I didn't even recognize him because he was cleaned up and clean shaven. He just wanted to thank this "kid" who told him about Jesus.
My friends and I were blown away. I never got a chance to share this with Sammy (that I remember.) He came out of the courthouse and was mobbed by the press.
I just want to thank Sammy for his infectious zeal and passion for Christ that made such an incredible impact on my life. I am also glad to know he and Tex are still together and serving God.
