In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness (Jer. 23:6 NIV).
Several years ago, I spoke in a city just off the coastline of Scotland. The city was located in Scotland's Shetland Islands. We had wonderful meetings. Many came to know Christ, and it was a blessed time. But when my wife and I arrived at the airport, we had an interesting experience. The wind was blowing incredibly hard. I found myself walking across the tarmac of the airport with a bent. I looked at my wife, and she was walking with the same bent. I then looked around, and everyone was walking with that bent. The wind had blown over all of us, and our entire upper bodies were bent backwards.
India is one of the great nations of the world. One out of every six people on the planet live there, and it's the largest democracy known to mankind. Every time I travel there, I return with great memories of wonderful people. God touched my heart after the first time that I visited the country. I began asking God to open doors to reach the nation with the gospel.
"The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE" (Ezekiel 48:35 NIV).
Some of my most precious memories are those of my early experiences as a follower of Christ. When Christ first became a reality in my life, I wanted everyone to know what had taken place. I wanted all my friends and family to know the Savior who had changed and forgiven me. Not long after I came to know Christ, several of my friends also came to a personal knowledge of the Savior.
When Jesus commissioned His disciples to make disciples of all nations, He told them to baptize those new believers in the name of the "Father,Son and Holy Spirit." Those three names give us the clearest definition of who God is - His nature, His attributes and His character. We see the fatherhood of God most often in the Old Testament. It's in His fatherhood that we understand that God is for us. In the gospels, we meet Jesus, who is God with us. But beginning in the book of The Acts of the Apostles, we come to know God as the Holy Spirit. It's in getting to know God the Holy Spirit that we discover that God is in us. Thus, it's important for every true follower of Christ to come to know God intimately as God for us, with us, and in us.
