When the wind of God blows across the pages of history, the chapter changes. There certainly has been a change of chapters in Eastern Europe during the past several years. I'm convinced that the only explanation for what has transpired is a divine intervention of God in the affairs of human history.
If you had to pick the most evangelical Christian region of the world today, where would you choose? You may be surprised to learn that a Northeastern region of India has become one of the great evangelical strongholds in the world in recent years. The people of Nagaland were historically animist and headhunters. The Nagas are people of Mongolian stock who live primarily in the region of India that borders Burma. Christians were at a minority until a revival swept through in 1953. There was political unrest at the time. Many people fled to the forest in fear of their lives.
I've been writing about revival in countries around the world - places like Romania, East Germany, Nagaland and Siberia. But you may be asking if such a spiritual awakening is possible in North America or Western Europe. Not only is it possible, but it's actually happened. We've seen a touch of revival in both North America and Western Europe in recent decades.
One of the most unusual evangelistic meetings that I've ever conducted took place in the Moscow airport. We were on our way to Siberia for evangelistic meetings when the airlines told us that our flight was delayed for three hours. Then we were told it was delayed for another three hours. We kept being told the same thing for three days and nights.
