Absolute truth Print E-mail
When I came to know Christ over thirty years ago, I immediately wanted my friends to know the peace I had found in Him. Some of my friends had just returned from Vietnam with their minds messed up. Others returned crippled, and a few just never returned. It was really a tough time. Many of my colleagues began to throw out the traditional and Biblical moral values upon which the United States had been founded. Some of them even became atheists. I probably would have headed the same direction had I not encountered the absolute truth of God's word.

After having had a life changing experience when I placed my faith in Christ, I found my belief system being challenged by certain professors at the university. One in particular seemed to feel that it was his responsibility to disprove the Bible and the Christian faith. He would daily quote from the Bible and ridicule Christians. I found my self in the library the rest of the day studying the Bible and researching the accuracy of my professor's statements. In every instance I discovered he had misquoted the scripture or taken the passage out of context. Or he simply twisted the meaning of the Bible for his own purposes.

I was a new and young Christian, and I wanted to know the truth. The more I was challenged the quicker I came to one great conclusion - the Bible is truth. It can be trusted. It's historically accurate, verbally inspired, and morally correct. Its principles have the ability to transcend cultural, racial, national, and language barriers. The Bible meets the deep needs of the human heart. I've witnessed marriages healed, broken hearts mended, and moral climates changed by the word of God. I've seen Asians, Europeans, Africans, Australians, North and South Americans find a Rock upon which to build their lives in the Bible.

Long ago the Psalmist said, "Thy word is truth." His statement is still pertinent at the beginning of the 21st century. Some may tell you that everything is relative, and it doesn't matter what you believe just as long as you believe in something. But I want you know that there is a book that can be trusted. It does matter what you believe. Society and every human relationship must be founded upon trust and trust is built upon truth. Why don't you open the Bible today and discover for yourself absolute truth.
