As I have traveled throughout the world I have met three basic types of people. No, I'm not speaking about Europeans, Africans or Asians. I'm talking about three types of people in relationship to the purpose of life.
First, there are those people who have no purpose in life. They are the most miserable of all people. They grow up, get married, find a job, have children, grow old and eventually they die and they never had a clue why they were placed on this planet.
The second kind of person is one who has the wrong purpose in life. I was that kind of person for the first 18 years of my life. My goal in life was to make money and to exert influence, it left me empty and without meaning. This kind of person will become the most disappointed in life. He's like a man with a ladder. The man places his ladder against a wall and he climbs it as fast as he can. When he finally gets to the top he discovers that he's put his ladder against the wrong wall. When he dies and stands before a Holy God, this person won't be able to bring his influence, money or power with him.
The third kind of person is one who has discovered the right purpose in life. Jesus was once asked what was the greatest commandment. He responded that it was to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
Nearly 35 years ago I discovered the true purpose in life when I experienced a personal Faith in Jesus. I began to do what God created me to do. In my heart I wanted to live for and worship my Savior.
Why don't you find a quiet place today and do what you were created to do...Worship Jesus. You will discover this life of worship will bring the greatest sense joy and fulfillment that you have ever known. You will be doing what you were created to do.
