Roy Hession, author of the Christian classic, "The Calvary Road," was asked an important question when he served as a missionary in East Africa. It was a simple one - "What's your vision?" God was moving in that part of the world sending a mighty revival to his people. It was a fellow missionary that asked Mr. Hession about his vision. Hession responded by saying that he had a threefold vision. He had a vision for revival, literature distribution and evangelism. The missionary then told Mr. Heshem, "I'm sorry for you. You have not yet seen the way. Your vision is too small. Your vision needs to be one that sees God."
I'm afraid that many of us don't have a big enough vision, anything less than God Himself is an insufficient vision. The late Martyn Lloyd Jones, who pastored Westminster Chapel in London, said, "Revival is when God is known as God."
Revival in your personal life is simply when you are growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. Revival in your church comes as God reveals Himself to His people. Christians then begin to grow in God's grace. Revival in a community or in a nation takes place when God intervenes in the affairs of that nation and reveals Himself to that group of people.
I'm convinced that the great need at this crucial moment of history is for a mighty sweeping revival that results in moral renewal in North America, Western Europe and throughout the world. Families will continue to be ripped apart. Our streets will look more like war zones than neighborhoods. Our young people will be held hostage to drugs and sexually transmitted diseases unless there is a great spiritual awakening that restores us to moral sanity. But it all begins with a fresh knowledge of God.
You have a personal role in this coming spiritual revival. It's simply to set your heart on seeking God and getting to know Him. That's why the Bible says, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
So again I ask you what's your vision?
