“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
We’re living in times when darkness and danger creep in at the turn of every new day. Terms such as terror and terrorists are constantly on our lips, and the drumbeat of war can be heard on every continent. People cry out for peace, but there is no peace.
Back in 1964. I had the opportunity to study at the United Nations in New York City. While there, I entered an international oratory contest and was awarded “Most Outstanding Youth Speaker in North America.” Briefly I traveled around Canada and the United States, speaking about peace in the world. But there was one problem: I had no peace in my own heart.
One year after my U.N. experience, I went to a church service with my girlfriend. I hadn’t gone to church often. The reason I went that night was mostly to please my girlfriend’s father. Was I ever surprised that night! I heard about the Savior. A man spoke about Jesus: who He is and what He could do in my life — if I placed my faith in Him.
That night I prayed. I really prayed. I placed my trust and faith in Jesus. He came into my heart and forgave my sins. He made me a brand-new person on the inside. Since that day I’ve never been the same. I’m not trying to say I’ve been perfect. I’m just saying I’ve never been the same. Jesus transformed my life.
There was one great change that took place in my life. I found peace: peace of heart, mind, and soul. I found the true source of peace, a source that’s not a political entity. I met the One who is called the “Prince of Peace.” His name is Jesus. I discovered that when I was at peace with God, I could be at peace with myself — and at peace with others. The war in my soul ceased. The conflict was over.
The peace I experienced that night wasn’t just a one-time feeling. It was much more. God not only put peace in my heart, but He also placed in me the Eternal Source of that peace. All I have to do is to abide in Him and allow His Spirit to abide in me, and I walk in peace. I need only to follow Him day by day.
Yes, there’s still the enemy. He’s bent on the hellish destruction of our souls. He’ll do everything he can to disrupt the peace that God has placed in our hearts. So we must always remember that it’s the Prince of Peace who now lives in us. When we turn to Him and trust Him, we’ll walk in peace and experience the calmness of His incredible love and grace. We can face the enemy and not have to worry. The Prince of Peace has won the battle. The victory is His, and it’s ours as we trust Him.

John : Chapter 14
25)  “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26)  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27)  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28)  “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29)  I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30)  I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31)  but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave.

Book of the Month

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe.  For all other books…
