“Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.’” (Revelation 5:5)
The Gospel writers give a wonderful description of the nature and character of Jesus, our Messiah. John describes Jesus as the Son of God, while Luke presents Him as the Son of Man. Matthew speaks of Jesus as the King of Israel, and Mark writes of Him as the Servant of all. When you put all of these descriptions together, they form a beautiful piece of art that describes Jesus wonderfully. He’s God who became a man, the King who became a servant.
Oh, what a wonderful Savior! There’s none like Him in all of human history. In fact, He’s the true author of all history. One of the great discoveries anyone will ever make is to learn that history is simply His story. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He’s the one, true, great leader. He’s the one from whom we all derive our life and breath and strength.
When we think of leadership among God’s ancient people, the Jews, our minds go to King David. He accomplished so much. He’s described as “a man after God’s own heart.” Yet the Book of Revelation ascribes to Jesus the name “the Root of David.” That is, David had his origin in Jesus. Before David was, Jesus is. David’s kingship and leadership were all derived from Jesus, because Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
One day, every man and woman who has ever lived will recognize Jesus for who He is. He will be crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords. But the good news is, we don’t have to wait for eternity to crown Jesus as King. We can do that right now. As we recognize who He is, we can bow before Him and worship Him.
I’ll never forget that night I came to know the Savior. It was such a blessed time. Jesus came by His Spirit to dwell in my heart. He forgave my sins and changed my life. That night I realized for the first time Who had done so much for me. It wasn’t just any ordinary man who died for me. He was the King of glory. He was the “Root of David.”
As I understood the greatness of what had happened and Who had done it, I could only weep. I prayed that night and said, “God, I’ll go wherever You want me to go. I’ll do whatever You want me to do. I’ll be whatever You want me to be.” I’ve never regretted that prayer. It’s been an adventure following Christ. It’s been a joy to know Him and worship Him as the King.|
He’s the King who is merciful — the King who is wise. He’s the King who always leads us in triumph. He’s the King who loved you so much, He would die for you. Why don’t you bow today and worship the King? Such worship leads only to victory. Hallelujah! He’s the “Root of David.” He’s the King who became a servant.

Revelation : Chapter 5
1)  Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2)  And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3)  But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4)  I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5)  Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Book of the Month

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe.  For all other books…
