DAILY VIDEO DEVOTIONAL
It was the early hours of the morning, and I was sound asleep. Suddenly, I was startled as the phone rang. I was thousands of miles and an entire ocean away from my home. No one had the phone number of the hotel where I was staying. “Who could be calling me at this time of the morning?” I thought.
The voice on the other end of the phone said, “Good morning, Sammy. This is the Prime Minister.”
Believe me. It didn’t take a long time to be completely awake. “Well, good morning, Mr. Prime Minister,” I responded.
“I would like to meet with you. Is it possible for you to come to my office this morning?” he asked.
It didn’t take long to answer that question. Nor did it take long to get dressed and prepare to go to the Prime Minister’s office. When the head of a nation invites you into his presence, you don’t fool around. You prepare yourself and immediately go.
Yet, every Christian is bid into the presence of the Prime Minister of Prime Ministers, the President of Presidents, the King of Kings – Jesus, the Christ. He calls us to daily awaken early in the morning, get dressed, and join Him for a private conference. Think about that. The God who hung the stars in place; the God who put the moon in place; the God who created everything that exists; this same God wants to have a personal and private meeting with you and me.
There’s no greater privilege than to meet with Him. He is absolute purity. There’s no evil in His nature; no wrong in His actions; no darkness in His person. And our lives are full of sin, deceit, and failure. He has saved us by His grace. And He keeps us by His grace. It’s all of grace. We are what we are because of His grace. By His grace, He bids us into His presence. We ought to run and hide from such a holy God. But by the grace of Jesus, we’re bid into the presence of absolute Majesty. What a privilege we’ve been given.
Jesus said, “.. and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out” (John 6:37 NASU). The Son of God bids us into His presence. The heavenly phone rings early each morning, and the voice tenderly says, “Sammy, this is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I’d like to meet with you. Would you come into My presence?”
He bids. Such an honor; such a privilege that we’ve been given. We ought to awaken every morning with a sense of excitement at that call. We ought to get dressed, prepare ourselves and go immediately into His presence. He’s waiting.
John : Chapter 6
32) Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33) For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34) “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.” 35) Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36) But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37) All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38) For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39) And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40) For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Book of the Month
Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe. For all other books…
