DAILY VIDEO DEVOTIONAL
“I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:18)
Ten days after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush spoke to the Congress and the American people. He outlined the tragic events and his response.
President Bush recognized the heroic actions of a man on a United Airlines flight that crashed in Pennsylvania. Todd Beamer was one of a handful of men who overpowered the hijackers and caused the plane to crash rather than be used as a bomb to kill hundreds or thousands of innocent people. The President then recognized Beamer’s widow, who was present.
Lisa Beamer was later interviewed on the “Larry King” program. King asked Mrs. Beamer about the source of her strength in those trying times. She told him of her husband’s faith and her personal faith in Christ. She said she was sure she would one day see her husband again. She knew he was in heaven and that one day she would also be in heaven, because of her faith in Jesus.
I’m sure many people had a difficult time understanding her inner strength that comes from faith in Christ — and also her assurance that one day she would be in heaven. But anyone with a personal relationship with Christ and who reads the Bible also knows the source of Lisa Beamer’s strength, because Jesus is the “Living One.”
Death has no hold on the true follower of Christ. It has lost its grip on us. The Bible says that Jesus conquered death. He came face to face with death, and he defeated man’s great enemy. This is the great hope for those who place their faith in Christ. He’s the victorious One. He’s the “Living One.” He’s the One who was dead, but is now alive.
I’ve stood at the tombs of many of the world’s great political leaders. I’ve viewed the ancient tombs of religious leaders. They’ve often been well preserved to honor their contribution to history. But there’s one tomb that’s empty. The body is no longer there. It’s the tomb of Jesus. He’s alive and lives forevermore. And all who trust in Him find eternal life.
That’s why Lisa Beamer could make such bold comments. She knows the One who holds the “keys of death and Hades.” He’s the source of her strength. His name is Jesus. His name is “the Living One.” If you lack the assurance that when you die, you will go to heaven, you need to place your faith in the “Living One.” Call upon His name: Jesus. He will save you and forgive you. Right now, ask Him into your heart. He will change your life — and give you the assurance of eternal life.
If you’ve prayed and invited Jesus to come into your heart and change your life today, please e-mail us at info@sammytippit.org and let us know. We’ll be praying for you. God bless you.
Revelation : Chapter 1
12) I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13) and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[d] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14) The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15) His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16) In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. 17) When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18) I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. 19) “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. 20) The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels[e] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe. For all other books…
