“He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.” (Revelation 19:13)
Recently I attended a conference with Christian leaders where I’d been talking about God’s leadership. I said several times that “God spoke to my heart” and that “God led me to do certain things.” At the close of our session one leader asked some pertinent questions. “What do you mean when you say that ‘God spoke to you?’” he said. “How does God speak to you?”
“God can speak in many ways,” I said. “Once in the Bible, He spoke through a donkey. He can speak in any manner He so desires. But my experience is that He most often speaks through the Bible.”
Another name for the Bible is the “Word of God.” God spoke to people long ago some age-old truths. They’ve never changed. They are eternal. When we read the Bible with an open heart, the Holy Spirit will speak through that great old book. He will give us direction for our lives, truth for our minds, and peace in our hearts.
But not only the Bible is called the “Word of God.” Jesus is also ascribed that name. One of the great passages on the deity of Christ is found in the Gospel of John. It says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1-3).
The Bible is the written “Word of God,” and Jesus is the living “Word of God.” Everything in the Bible points to the person of Jesus, because Jesus, the living Word of God, created all things. Nothing came into existence without Him. In the first chapter of Genesis, the creation chapter, the Bible says nine times, “And God said.” Every time God created anything, it began by “and God said.” God spoke the worlds into existence. He hung the stars in space by His word. He created you and me by His word. His name is the “Word of God.”
What does this have to do with our victory? Everything! When He speaks, it’s so. It’s absolute. When people were admiring the temple in Jerusalem, Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down” (Luke 21:6). Four decades later, Titus and his Roman legion came to Jerusalem and destroyed the temple, just as Jesus said. Jesus is truly the “Word of God.”
The wonderful truth is that when Jesus speaks to our hearts through His word, we can have assurance that what He says is true. He will bring to pass whatever He’s told us to do. He will lead us in His triumph. We can take Him at His word. One of the great old hymns says it simply: “Standing on the promises of God, my Savior … I’m standing, standing, standing on the promises of God.” When you learn to stand on the promises of God, you’ll find victory. There’s victory in His name.
Take some time today and allow God to speak to your heart through His Word. His Word has a ring of certainty. His Word will heal your broken heart and lead you into victory. His Word is true because He is true. He is the Word of God.

John : Chapter 1
1)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2)  He was with God in the beginning. 3)  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4)  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5)  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

Book of the Month

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe.  For all other books…
