Matthew : Chapter 10
36)      a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’[c] 37)  “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38)  Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39)  Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. 40)  “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41)  Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42)  And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

Book of the Month

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe.  For all other books…

Day 9 – Son of God and Son of Man

Imagine standing in the rubble of the World Trade Center after 9/11, surrounded by one million tons of twisted steel and debris. Everything symbols of America’s power had been destroyed. But then, amid all that destruction, workers discovered something extraordinary: two heavy steel beams left standing in the perfect shape of a cross. Engineers couldn’t explain how it survived, but many saw it as God’s sign of hope emerging from tragedy.

That cross in the rubble perfectly illustrates who Jesus is and why He matters. In a world full of broken dreams, shattered lives, and impossible circumstances, Jesus stands as our unshakeable hope – not because He’s just a good teacher or religious leader, but because of who He is.

Here’s the life-transforming truth that will change everything about your Christian life: Jesus is both fully God and fully man – the Son of God who gives us victory over every circumstance, and the Son of Man who understands every struggle we face.

First John 5:5 declares: “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

Let me tell you about my friend “Paul” from a country that severely persecutes Christians. He was raised in the home of a devout Muslim cleric, while I grew up in a secular environment. He was from a country that hates Christianity; I grew up with Christian heritage. We couldn’t have been more different.

But we discovered something remarkable: we both had the same problem before knowing Christ. Paul couldn’t live up to the standards of Islamic law, and I couldn’t live up to biblical standards. Paul tried to do right but couldn’t. I wanted to live the right kind of life but found it impossible. We both hid secret sins and felt defeated.

Then everything changed. Paul saw a film about Jesus and placed his faith in Him as the Son of God. I heard a man speak about Jesus and that night trusted Him as the Son of God. From that moment, neither of us was ever the same.

Why? Because when we believe Jesus is the Son of God – not just a prophet or religious leader, but truly God Himself – we tap into unlimited power. If Jesus is who He said He is, then nothing is too difficult for Him. When His Spirit dwells in our hearts, we become more than conquerors. He becomes our victory.

This is why the apostle John wrote, “Who overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” Our victory isn’t in our ability or willpower – it’s in trusting that Jesus is fully God.

But Jesus isn’t just the Son of God – He’s also the Son of Man. Matthew 24:30 speaks of “the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” This title reveals His full humanity.

Here’s the amazing mystery: Jesus was, is, and always will be God. But one day He left His throne in glory and clothed Himself with human flesh – born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit. He was all God and all man. “Son of God” refers to His divinity; “Son of Man” refers to His humanity.

The uniqueness of Jesus is that the eternal God became a man. He hurt like we hurt. He felt what we felt. He needed food like we need food. He identified with our struggles. He didn’t just remain on His throne in glory – He humbled Himself by becoming a man.

One man (Adam) brought ruin to all of us, but one Man (Jesus) won victory for all of us. He came to the rubble of humanity over 2,000 years ago. He was lifted high on that old rugged cross, suspended between heaven and earth. As the Son of Man, He died. As the Son of God, He rose again three days later.

This dual nature of Jesus means everything for your daily life. Because He’s the Son of God, He has unlimited power to overcome any situation you face. Because He’s the Son of Man, He understands exactly what you’re going through.

Hebrews 4:15 puts it perfectly: “We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.”

When you’re facing impossible circumstances, remember: the Son of God has power to overcome anything. When you’re struggling and feel like no one understands, remember: the Son of Man walked in your shoes and knows exactly how you feel.

The terrorists who attacked America aimed at symbols of power, hoping to cripple the nation. But out of the rubble emerged the cross – the symbol of what makes America truly great: faith in Jesus Christ. Similarly, Satan may attack your life and try to turn it into rubble, but the cross will always stand as your place of hope.

There’s freedom in the cross, love in the cross, forgiveness in the cross, salvation in the cross – all because of the Son of Man who died there and the Son of God who rose from there.

Here’s the question that determines everything: Do you truly believe Jesus is both Son of God and Son of Man?

If you’re trying to overcome life’s challenges in your own strength, remember: only those who believe Jesus is the Son of God overcome the world. If you’re feeling alone in your struggles, remember: the Son of Man understands every pain you feel.

Stop trying to face life’s battles alone. The Son of God offers you His unlimited power. The Son of Man offers you His perfect understanding. Together, they offer you complete victory.

Look to the cross standing in the rubble of your broken dreams and shattered circumstances. Trust the One whose name is Son of God and Son of Man. He’ll rebuild your life and turn your ashes into beauty.
