DAILY VIDEO DEVOTIONAL
“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.” (Isaiah 6:1)
It was the greatest moment of my life. I was 18 years old when I trusted Christ to forgive my sins and be my Lord and Savior. I’ll never forget that night. It was as though a million pounds had been lifted from my shoulders. My heart was filled with joy and thrilled with the new-found relationship with the Savior.
I spoke that evening with James Robison, the evangelist who was preaching. I told him what I was experiencing. I also shared with him that I felt God wanted me in some kind of ministry. What he told me would set the direction for the rest of my life. “Sammy,” he said, “do you realize what it took for Jesus to save you tonight? Do you really understand what it cost Him to forgive your sins?”
I really hadn’t thought about it. “No,” I said. “I’m not sure what you’re getting at.”
“Sammy,” Robison said, “Jesus was, is, and always will be God. But one day, He left His throne in glory and came to this Earth. He clothed Himself in human flesh. He lived a sinless, perfect life. But He was rejected by men, forsaken by His friends, laughed at, mocked, and ridiculed. He was falsely accused, beaten, and nailed to a cruel Roman cross. Now remember, this is the Son of God, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. And He did all of that because He loved you.
“If Jesus, the Lord of all, gave everything for you, then you ought to be willing to give everything for Him,” Robison said. “If it means being rejected, laughed at, arrested, or even being killed, then you ought to be willing to go anywhere, do anything, and tell everyone of His great love.”
My first night as a believer, I realized that Jesus the Lord, became Jesus the Servant —because of His great love for me. I surrendered to His Lordship. That’s been the source of my victory throughout the years. He’s the Lord, and I’m the servant. When we walk with God in such a manner, the Christian life becomes a great adventure.
The prophet Isaiah came to know God in such a way. The Bible says Isaiah had a vision in which he “saw the Lord.” The name used for Lord is Adonai. It simply means “master.” Isaiah met God as Adonai (Lord). Out of his knowledge of God, Isaiah would be thrust into a ministry to the people. It was Adonai he heard say, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” (Isaiah 6:8). Because Isaiah met God as Adonai, he was quick to respond, “Here am I. Send me!”
When you come to know God as Adonai, you too will say, “Here I am, Adonai (Lord), send me. I’ll go wherever You want me to go. I’ll do whatever You want me to do. I’ll say whatever You want me to say. Here’s my life. You’re Adonai. I’m the servant. Send me. Send me.”
Isaiah : Chapter 6
1) In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2) Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3) And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4) At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5) “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” 6) Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7) With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
