DAILY VIDEO DEVOTIONAL
During these past several messages, I’ve shared the great burden of my heart. My soul cries out for the glory of God among the people of God — for a great spiritual renewal among God’s people. I’m convinced that if we’re to see a great renewal in this generation, we desperately need a vision of God in His Holiness.
Duncan Campbell was mightily used of God from 1949 to 1952 in a great revival that swept the Isle of Lewis off the northern coast of Scotland. He defined spiritual revival by saying, “I do not need a time of spiritual entertainment with crowds gathering to enjoy an evening of gospel singing. I do not need sensational or spectacular advertising. I do not need high-pressure methods to get men into an inquiry room. Revival is a movement of God among His people, an awareness of God among His people. An awareness of God laying hold of the community.”
Campbell knew what he was talking about. During the Isle of Lewis revival, he’d been engaged in prayer with a group of about thirty people. They concluded the time of prayer about 2:00 in the morning, only to discover the entire village was on fire with the very presence of God. People were carrying chairs to the church in hopes of finding a place to sit. People had awakened in the night under conviction of their sin and gone to the police station because they didn’t know what to do to right their wrongs.
That revival began in a prayer meeting. People prayed persistently and consistently, but saw no impact in the community. Finally someone read Psalm 24, “Who may ascend unto the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in this Holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart.” As people saw God’s absolute purity, they were broken about their own impurities.
That’s where revival began in that small island; and that’s where revival begins in your life and in your nation.
Do you have clean hands and a pure heart? Without that, you’ll never see the glory of God.
2 Chronicles : Chapter 6
18) “But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 19) Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. 20) May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 21) Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.
Book of the Month
Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe. For all other books…
